This review is for "take-out" order only. I have never tried Tana before so I decided last night to order some Thai foods just to give it a try. The foods were unimpressive. I order pad kee Mao with tofu and Tom yum with chicken. The soup was so bland and watery with A LOT of mushrooms, few slices of chicken and red pepper. And that was it. I felt like eating a mushroom soup instead. Thai food is known for their spices but this soup tasted like water. The noodle was boring with just cabbage as veggies. I have been looking a for some good Thai foods in the area but I was very disappointed at my $16 meal last night. Hopefully, the owner will read this review and put more effort in their foods next time.

I think Tana Thai was my first experience with Thai food and a good one at that. I used to order the Thai basil stir-fried and it is delicious but then I got interested in noodle dishes and curries. I love the way they make their Pad Kee Mao. It is always the perfect amount of spicy that I ask for and they will bring you pepper flakes if you want it spicier. Their Thai tea is also good, although I never order that anymore because of its obviously terrible nutritional content. Their green curry is good but I wouldn't say it is my favorite green curry around. Tana Thai is one of the only Thai restaurants in its vicinity and I think that's probably why it does so well (in addition to their delicious food). The service is usually pretty good and the owner is a crazy lady, but I like her. There are a few downfalls to Tana Thai: The restaurant is particularly small and can be very crowded at lunch and it can also take a while to get your food, they don't have any vegetarian spring rolls (argh!), and they are closed on Sundays (along with every other Thai restaurant in OKC)!

Nce, clean, quiet place with very good Thai food. If you like spicy get the 3 (highest level on their system) because the 2 isn't that spicy in my opinion. Id say this is an excellent place for a date because it's quaint and not too loud. Sadie, a young woman who serves as host and waitress, is very helpful and she really understands customer service. Made sure to give me a menu which included her favorites highlighted for me. I'll be back to try more of the menu.

They get 4 stars for the food. I only frequent 2 Thai joints in town and this is one of them. The Pad Thai is excellent but I come here for the panang curry! I like spice so I order it 4 star spicy. The most interesting thing about Tana Thai is one of the waitresses. For some reason unknown to me she decided she didn't like me from the first time I came in. It has become something of a comical experience every time I go in. If she's there I'll sit in her section and she immediately gets a scowl on her face. I've tried to make polite conversation but she wants nothing of it. I take friends just so they can observe this strange interaction. I guess I'll never know what the deal is but, I'll go and enjoy the outstanding Thai food! I am bound and determined to win her over at some point. Maybe I'll surprise her with a Christmas gift this year! I would be curious to know if anyone else gets the same reaction, I hope it's not just me!

I must say that I quite like this little place. There are about... I dunno, 10 tables to sit at? Give or take. It's a small building but I'd say that's a positive. The staff here are very friendly! They treat you like they know you, which could be good or bad, depending how impressionable ya are, ya little pansy. I'm lookin' at you, sunshine britches. A woman who I think may manage the place took our order and my boyfriend ordered his food as spicy as he could get and she said, "Don't blame me when you can't handle it!" CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. I thought that was funny, personally, but I've met people who'd get all huffy over something like that. The food? Yum! Not the best I've ever had, but it is delicious. I'm willing to say that any dish you normally like, you'll enjoy here.

Good mixture of spices on the pad Thai. A very clean place. Great service. I would come here anytime I am in the area.

Tried it for takeout, pretty good! Will be my new Thai place in OKC. Especially since there's no good Asian food around me (Great Wall, what happened to ya?)

I have a paradoxical relationship with Thai spice. On the one side I love it, on the other side when you have had treatment for throat cancer spice does not love you. So if I go to a Thai restaurant, it takes awhile for them to understand that a very small bit of spice doesn't mean I am okay with a two alarm fire in my neck. Finally I think I have got them trained and Tana Thai is now one of my favorites. Besides the food quality, although a limited menu is very good, I like to get carry out there. Unlike many restaurants they know how to pack it without getting home and discovering a mess. The other really good thing for people wanting to eat there is, they have no liquor license, so BYOB without paying the Southern Baptist imposed wine tax is a great thing. You want great atmosphere? Don't bother to go there. You want really really good Thai food? You went to the right place.

tana thai rocks... the lady that works there is the best... she will bring you popsicles if your food is too spicy or will bring out some sugar to cool off the palate... and shes kinda crazy... one time when we were in she told us a story about how a dead body had been rotting for a few weeks around the block... but i love the food (mostly get pad thai b/c i really like it here and chicken satays) but the other stuff is good too... and they always have a classic rock dvd on the flatscreen which is kinda funny too... and its relatively cheap (10 bucks or so will get the job done)... one final note... 2 of my friends both got food poisoning last time we ate here... however im willing to call it a fluke b/c i have been here dozens of times and never fell to the same fate

Great place for lunch and they will season your food to taste. They only have one person working the front and if they are busy it can be a little slow but the kitchen is not slow getting the food out. One review mentioned the rice, all you have to do is ask for more and they will bring it out for you. I have eaten there 3 or 4 times so far and every items have been outstanding. Give this place a try if you like Thai food or just want to know what Thai food is. If you are new to Thai food ask the lady working the floor and she will be delighted that you asked.

Let me start by saying--I really love this place. The food is always flavorful, fresh & delicious. The service is always very friendly & on spot, and the atmosphere is small, clean & cozy. My only wish is that they had more vegetarian options amongst their appetizers. I always like to get a spring roll or soup, when I order Thai, and unfortunately they don't offer any of these in veggie form. Otherwise, this place is great, it's definitely one of my very favorites in the OKC area.

My friends brought me here for a weekend dinner. I had heard people raving about this place so wanted to see what it was about. We ordered family style, started with spring rolls, then red curry, yellow curry, chicken pad Thai and crab fried rice. I'm not a huge curry fan, the fried rice was just OK, but I loved the pad thai, it was delicious and I wish I ordered that for my whole plate. If I could do it over again I would go to Asian district to my thai staple and not come back here, just for flavor and price.

This place is AWESOME. First and foremost, the BEST customer service possible. Their kindness will bring a happy wave into your hearts. It is run by a mom and pop and they are super nice. Although they did hire a server and the dude isn't the best. The food is pretty solid. Solid as Panang or any other good thai place in OKC. Warning: The mild spicy is still pretty spicy for us! The pad see ew and pad thai def had a kick to it still, but still very good! Very well priced!

save your time and go to lemongrass in edmond or Panang in south okc, they are awesome. Tana thais thai tea is ok, they use a powder creamer and it doesn't desolve all the way. Their spice scale is one-three, three is a little spicy and 2 is not spicy at all. The wait staff was friendly but not attentive, we had empty glasses for a while. The food is fresh, but not very flavorfull. I got the yellow currey, it was watery and had a lot of chicken, but the onions tasted more like chicken then the chicken. The chicken was all white meat. We also got the combination pad thai, it was ok but was almost sour in taste. The chicken sate chicken was good, the peanut sauce left a lot to be desired.

Best thai food in okc. The atmosphere is nice and their curries are delicious. I especially love their green curry with tofu. Definitely recommend this place.

Quite yummy curry bowl! Ginger shrimp was tasty but we needed more heat, but we asked for a low number on that one.

This place has pretty good food and service is good. Not bad for the very few Thai restaurants we have in Oklahoma City. It's family run and the lady there is super nice but the menu is way over-priced. If it were a bit cheaper, I'd give it 4 stars. I'm not sure I'll return to this place but I do say you should give it at least one try. I'd go during lunch, if you want to save a couple bucks. I had the pad see ew.

My new favorite Thai place. I used to go to Sala (I guess they are cousins) and before that Thai House but they have both lost me to Tana due to their terrible service. They only have a one page menu because they do a few things REALLY WELL. I like the Panang Curry I ask them to add mixed vegetables, my girlfriend always gets the Green Curry. The Pad Thai is super. Everything tastes fresh and well seasoned. It is not a big place and is usually busy but I have never had to wait. Its in a strip mall but the inside is warm and inviting with white cloth table cloths and napkins and flowers on the table. The last time I was there I wore my gym clothes and totally felt comfortable. Plus, they were playing She and Him the whole time. I think the younger members of the family control the stereo. :)

I have picked up 2 to-go orders from this place over the past month and have been VERY pleased with my meals, for the most part. Pad Thai was yummy, they ask you how spicy you want it. A "1" and me saying "not very spicy" got me SPICY Pad Thai! Also ordered Shrimp Fried Rice, the shrimp wasn't super fresh but the flavor of the rice was amazing. LOVE the spring rolls and dipping sauce. Also ordered Chicken Satay and loved it. My mom ordered Chicken Fried Rice and thought it was great. One night we were told it would be an hour for a to-go order, it was more like 40 minutes, they were PACKED inside! The servers who assisted me were very nice and smiley. I love Sala Thai but it's pretty far, so Tana Thai is my Go To thai place for To Go!

although oklahoma city isn't considered a culinary epicenter(totally stating the obvious)...there are actually some stand out restaurants like tana thai...i usually stop by for lunch at least once when i'm visiting... the restaurant itself is clean, well lit, nicely decorated, but on the small side...there might be 5 booths + 5 tables...it can get pretty busy during the lunch rush, but the food comes out surprisingly fast... i've always gotten good service...but most importantly...the food is consistent and tasty...the ingredients are also super fresh... came here on tuesday for lunch and ordered: pad kee mao yelp.com/biz_photos/sBBY… yelp.com/biz_photos/sBBY… shrimp with spicy basil sauce yelp.com/biz_photos/sBBY… yelp.com/biz_photos/sBBY… yelp.com/biz_photos/sBBY… crab fried rice...think they kind of skimped on the crab this time =( yelp.com/biz_photos/sBBY… yelp.com/biz_photos/sBBY… will be back for more...

Nov. 3, 2012 -- Stopped in for a late afternoon dinner. Ordered Pad Kee Mao and LOVED it. Too often around here you order the hottest they serve something and there's no heat. Chef got it just right, nice bite without being overpowering. Service was friendly but not too constant. I've found a new favorite in OKC for my Thai fix.

I was really excited to find this place but it did not live up to it. The food wasn't bad, pretty bland mostly. The thai iced-tea tasted more like a 7-11 cappuccino. None the less, if the food was the only complaint it would not have been a notably bad experience. The lady that helped us decided to start yelling at us about how fantastic McCain was and was QUITE unhappy that I respectfully disagreed. Nor did she seem happy to let us go until we conceded to her point, that McCain was awesome, and continued to yell at us until we managed to escape. I won't be back.

The salmon is great! Everything is very tasteful and semi healthy. Just watch out for the spice level.

This place was pretty good. They were stingy with the steamed rice, come on now. Not as spicy as I would have liked. Service was pretty slow. We saw Steven Drozd come in and pick up a to-go order. I really wanted to like this place a lot more because it's closer by. Oh well.

I've tried most of the menu and it's all been good. Spiciness varies but usually leaves me with a runny nose. The guys right the little lady is a bit crazy in a good way.

Owners Sam and Dee make delicious Authentic Thai Food! At first it may seem that the staff attending to the tables are just there to take your order and get you your drinks and food quickly but they mean well. As time went by and you have conversation with them they are very nice and genuinely care for their customers. I had the red snapper, spicy Thai basil shrimp stir fry, chicken pad Thai and the Sticky Rice Mango. All are a must have. Trust me on this one. Enjoy because when I am in town from California I will make sure I come here for dinner.

I've been going to Tana Thai for years now. It's my favorite Thai place in the U.S. I've been to Thailand three times and I can honestly say the Thai food at Tana Thai is on par with the real thing! Their Pad Thai is my favorite! :)

Small 12 table restaurant. SUCH great customer service! Ma'am. Sir. Then called me by my name when handing my credit card back to me. Food is always fresh and delicious. A must experience.

I really liked the original pad Thai. My husband got the pad see ew and I liked it also! Our friends with us got the thai stir fry and the vegetables weren't all the way cooked. Service was good as well.

I've lived in OKC for so much of my life, and I can't believe I never knew about this place! I haven't dined in yet, but the few times I've gone, they're decently busy, and I don't even go at regular lunch/dinner times. While waiting on my to-go food, I found that this place is very casual with a really nice atmosphere. It's also very clean, and it's small but not to where you would feel crowded either. Foodwise, I can't get myself to order anything other than the crab pad thai or crab fried rice. Their crab fried rice is like no other fried rice I've eaten with a large scent of egg mixed with the scent of crab (and no peas is a huge plus for me!). I think that even if I didn't like seafood, I would still get this all the time. I've had pad thai from places all over Norman and OKC and this place remains to be my favorite. The noodles are more like rice noodles, not like traditional pad thai egg noodles (I think rice noodles are healthier?), so that was a nice change. The noodles aren't drenched in sauce, which isn't something I mind, but in this case the slight dryness makes it a little better than the typical pad thai I've had. I also don't like making my pad thai spicy (mostly because most places have a lot of sauce that makes it pretty sweet, thus I keep it not spicy), but I love getting a spicy level of 1 here with my pad thai. And this is coming from someone who would order weaksauce at a BWW's if they could. Their spicy level goes from 1-3, and I'm used to 1-5 at other places, so that means a 1 is on a bit of a higher caliber here. Still, the spiciness added a really good kick to it. I do this with the fried rice too. I'm excited to dine in and try all the other kinds of Thai food here!

Haven't been here in a few years. I tried it and wasn't impressed at all. Had an appointment close by so I thought I'd give it another try. Food and service is just as bad as I remembered it. I ordered the pad Kee Mao and it tasted like nothing, but salt. The worst I've ever had from any establishment. Skip this place.

  • K G.

Well today it's gets a three star because the spring rolls were a tad funky tasting. We have eaten here many times and we love the pad Thai...however today my husband got the pad Thai with chicken and I tasted his and it was way more spicy then a one as ordered. And we have had the spring rolls before too. So not a good day.

Average, overly sweet Thai food. This is generic Thai food that is largely overrated. The owner is full of herself as well. Do they have a back entrance that is wider so she can fit her head into the door? Try other Thai options in the city. This place reeks of mediocre.

  • Lauren T.

This place is wonderful! I have only been impressed with two thai restaurants in OKC and this is one of them! I always get the pad thai with chicken, extra spicy. The sauce is light and delicious and the chicken and noodles are always cooked to perfection! The atmosphere is fine, and the place is not big, but you are there for the food, right? The owner is very nice and the food comes out relatively quickly, so no complaints here! I will be back again soon.

  • Katherine B.

This is a really delicious little restaurant tucked into a strip mall on May Ave. I'll admit I've only had the red curry here, so I can't speak to any of their other dishes. The curry is so intensely flavorful that I find myself resisting the urge to lick my plate! Be warned, the lunch portions are much smaller than typical Thai restaurant servings. So if you're roaring hungry you might want an appetizer, or just order the dinner size.

I absolutely love Thai food, and this is my favorite Thai restaurant in OKC. I am always wanting to try new places, but I am always disappointed and think I should have just gone to Tana Thai. Everything I've had is good. The pad Thai is my favorite and different from anywhere else, and the Thai fried rice is a close second. The pad see ew is also awesome, with more of a sweet flavor than spicy. The owner just adds to the greatness of this place. She is so sweet, always recognizes regulars when they come in and always welcomes us with open arms. If you haven't tried this place, it's a MUST.

For Thai food in the city, this is your go to place! Chicken pad Thai hands down better than pei Wei or Lemongrass. Also, friendly and fast service! Pick it up to go too! Try the soups too!!! Promise they are superb!

I've tried many Thai restaurants around the metro and this is one of my go-to places. What can I say, I love the food here. Everything I've tried has been delicious, but the green curry and fried rice are two of my favorite entrees. Service and prices are great also.

Words cannot describe how much I love this place!! Tana Thai is owned by the friendliest family, and my food has always served super quickly and it's always super amazing. I love the staff too, they're always kind and courteous! I recommend the chicken pad thai and the spring rolls :-)

    (5)
  • Kelly S.

Tana feels like wasted potential. It is close to me and their to-go service is fast, but their food just doesn't have the flavor I need in Thai food. I would eat Tana in a pinch because it's edible and not *terrible* but "I feel, like, sorry for your taste buds" (Breaking Bad, anyone?) if you haven't had better.

    (2)
  • Lisa P.

Tana Thai is my favorite Thai restaurant in OKC. They use very fresh vegetables that are always cooked just right. Their proteins are always lean and never of questionable origin if you know what I mean. I know this is not really stepping out on a limb with Thai food, but their Crab Fried Rice is very tasty. It has huge chunks of lump crab in it too. All of their curries are very good as well. I love their Green Curry mostly because it has eggplant in it. I love their manager. She is very energetic and will knock your socks off with her barrage of compliments and menu suggestions.

Came here for my first time and I'll be coming back! It is definitely authentic Thai food! I recommend it for sure. I got the Pad Thai with Shrimp, not big on spice but I got it at a level of 1, and it was perfect for me. I also ordered Crab Meat fried rice which was delicious!

  • Jessica L.

What the atmosphere is lacking the pad Thai makes up for. The service is terrible at best but once you get past the atmosphere and ordering get ready for your tastebuds to be rocked. The pad Thai has different levels of spice, I always get chicken with level 2 spice and it is so good. Every time I go I have every intention of eating half and taking the remaining half home but I never can stop at the half mark and always leave experiencing the best food coma of my life.

I am in love with Thai food, and I believe this will be my new favorite place to get it. From the outside it doesn't look special but, the special is found within! I love the waitressTim. She is hilarious! It was my first time there and she pretended to know me and knew what I would order. She instantly put me in a good mood with her enthusiasm about everything. She even made water exciting! I ordered the chicken satay and spring rolls as appetizers. For my entree I had the chicken pad Thai 3 star spicy. You can order it 1-3 stars worth of spicy. I loove spicy food and boy it was hot! It was very spicy but, you could still taste the other flavors. My friend didn't know what to order so Tim picked something for her. She had the beef Thai basil. She loved it and she can be a little picky. She had it without spicy... The service was fun and fast. The food was hot and delicious. Our food was prepared very fast. I look forward to taking other people here who share my love for Thai food.

Came back in after six months and tried it twice before I realized what was wrong. While the flavors are still quite good, the curries are not consistent. The last two times I went they were so liquids I thought they had messed up my order. Curries are not supposed to be soups. Thicken your curries. After mentioning it to several people they all said they felt the same. Please fix your curries. We really want to love you again Tana thai!

Came here for lunch, service was good. I thought it was a little pricey for the small lunch portions. My main dish, thai basil was a little salty for my tastes.

Food is decent. The combination of good food and terrible service is still a worthless place. Came here Monday afternoon alone. Some 6 people came in after me. The waiter took their order first. Their food came in 5 minutes. I spent 25 minutes waiting. I just left the place. Never really done that before. Never coming back.
